4.2 Overview
The main screen of the countingVermeer software is shown in figure [1]. This is written in the computer language Mathematica, and is a file in the form of a computable data file (*.cdf). The cdf Player, needed to run the software, can be freely downloaded from the Wolfram website at www.Wolfram.com. With the player, it is possible to use all the features of the software, but it is not possible to edit and change the operation of the program.
There are five tasks that this software can help with, as indicated by the five buttons. The first two can be used (in slightly different ways) to carry out the computer assisted manual thread counts.
